Rainfall Activity Spreads Across Heartland as Monsoon Progresses

Favorable conditions are expected for the further advancement of the Southwest Monsoon over the next three days. It is likely to progress into the remaining parts of the central Arabian Sea, additional areas of Maharashtra, the rest of Karnataka, and more regions of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The monsoon is also expected to cover the remaining areas of west-central Bay of Bengal, additional sections of North Bay of Bengal, the remaining northeastern states, and certain parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. An upper-air cyclonic circulation, extending up to mid-tropospheric levels, is positioned over Northwest and adjoining West-central Bay of Bengal. As a result, a low-pressure system is expected to develop in the same area today. South Peninsular India is set to experience light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph. A heavier spell is expected to begin tomorrow and persist for the next 2-3 days. Coastal and South Interior Karnataka will see similar conditions over the next 3-4 days, while Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana can anticipate the same for the next five days. Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will also experience these weather patterns throughout this period. West India is expected to experience light to moderate rainfall, with heavy spells accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph. These conditions will affect Goa, Maharashtra, and Gujarat State over the next two days. Northeast India is expected to experience light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, over the next seven days. East and Central India can expect light to moderate rainfall over the next four days, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph. These weather conditions are likely to affect Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Odisha. Parts of Punjab, North Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh may experience light to moderate rain and thunderstorms. Isolated rainfall is also possible over the Western Himalayan region. Meanwhile, heatwave conditions are expected to persist in parts of Rajasthan.
