Rainfall Intensifies as Monsoon Spreads Across the Region
Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into remaining parts of central Arabian Sea, some more parts of Maharashtra, remaining parts of Karnataka, some more parts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, some parts of Chhattisgarh & Odisha, most parts of westcentral & some more parts of North Bay of Bengal and remaining parts Northeastern states and some parts of West Bengal and Sikkim during next 2-3 days. The low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal, near the Odisha coast, has become well-marked in the same region. Its associated cyclonic circulation is tilting southward with height. Over the next 24 hours, it is expected to move gradually northward and intensify into a depression. South Peninsular India is set to experience light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph. Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karnataka are likely to see heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next three to four days. Meanwhile, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana can expect similar conditions, with heavy rainfall anticipated over the next two days. West India is expected to witness light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph over Goa and Maharashtra for the next three to four days. Meanwhile, Gujarat State will experience similar conditions until tomorrow, with thundersquall winds reaching speeds of 50-60 kmph, gusting up to 70 kmph. East and Central India are expected to see light to moderate rainfall over the next two days, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph. North Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha will likely experience these conditions, while South Chhattisgarh may face a heavier spell of rain. Northwest India may experience light rain and thundershowers over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and the Western Himalayan regions. Meanwhile, heatwave conditions could persist in some parts of western Rajasthan.
