Alert: Pre-Monsoon Storms, Hail, and Strong Winds in North India
In the past two days, due to a Western Disturbance and the associated cyclonic circulation, many parts of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi have experienced rainfall, thunderstorms, and dust storms. Prior to this, temperatures in cities like Ludhiana, Patiala, Amritsar, Ambala, and Karnal had reached 4142C, while in Ganganagar, Suratgarh, and Anupgarh, temperatures had gone above 44C. Recent weather activities have brought temperatures down to the upper 30s in several areas, although some parts of Haryana and Rajasthan are still above 40C. In the coming week, pre-monsoon activity across large parts of North India is expected to intensify. Multiple weather factors will work together to cause this. A deep upper-atmospheric trough over Central Asia and northern Pakistan will influence Indias weather, leading to widespread dust storms and thunderclouds over the plains. The presence of tall and strong updraft clouds may also increase the likelihood of hail in some areas. Weather activity will begin lightly from May 2, but will intensify from May 3 (Sunday). Many parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi may experience strong storms, dust storms, and winds exceeding 60 km/h. This system could affect a large area, potentially impacting agriculture, air travel, transportation, and outdoor activities. Hail may damage crops and disrupt flights. Most of these
