Low-Pressure Area to Trigger Heavy Rains in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala.

The well-marked low-pressure area lies over the southwest Bay of Bengal. The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to mid-tropospheric levels. The system is very likely to continue moving west-northwestwards towards the Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu coasts during the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rainfall with heavy spells is expected over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 2-3 days. Meanwhile, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala may experience rainfall after 2 days. A Western disturbance as a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies lies roughly. A gradual fall in minimum temperatures by 2°C is likely over Northwest India during the next 24 hours, with no significant change thereafter. Similarly, East India is expected to experience a gradual drop in minimum temperatures by 2-4°C over the next 24 hours, followed by stable conditions. In contrast, West India is likely to see a gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C over the next four days. Cold wave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets over Jammu & Kashmir today, and in Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh during the next 3-4 days. Dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail during late night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, and East Uttar Pradesh today, and in Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during the next 2 days.
