Rainy Days Ahead for South and East; Northwest India Under Heat Wave Alert.
A well-marked low-pressure area over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal has shifted northwards and currently resides over the west-central and southwest Bay of Bengal. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to middle tropospheric levels. Over the next 12 hours, it is expected to move nearly northwards over the west-central Bay of Bengal while maintaining its intensity. Subsequently, over the following 24 hours, the system is likely to recurve towards the north-northeast and gradually weaken over the central Bay of Bengal. A trough runs from southeast Uttar Pradesh to North Bangladesh in lower tropospheric levels. An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over Madhya Maharashtra & neighbourhood and a trough from this cyclonic circulation to south Interior Karnataka in lower tropospheric levels. Light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph, is expected over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana, and Karnataka today. Similar weather conditions are likely to prevail over East and Northeast India during the next three days. An isolated hailstorm is anticipated over Bihar. Light rainfall is very likely at isolated locations in Assam and Meghalaya until tomorrow, while Arunachal Pradesh is expected to experience heavy rainfall tomorrow. A fresh Western Disturbance, appearing as a trough in the westerlies at middle tropospheric levels, is active. Additionally, a trough extends from West Rajasthan to West Vidarbha in the lower tropospheric levels. As a result of these systems, light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph, is expected over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand over the next three days. Similar weather conditions are likely to affect Northwest India starting tomorrow. Heat wave conditions likely at isolated to some pockets over Saurashtra & Kutch, Rajasthan, Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi. Additionally, warm night conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh during the next two nights.
