Widespread Rainfall and Thunderstorm Activity Across Regions

Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon. During next two days, this monsoon may advance into remaining parts of North Arabian Sea, some more parts of Rajasthan, some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, remaining parts of West Uttar Pradesh, remaining parts of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu. A trough now extends from the northeast Arabian Sea to the cyclonic circulation over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha–West Bengal coasts. It runs across Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, northern Chhattisgarh, and north Odisha at an altitude of 3.1 km above mean sea level. Northwest India is expected to witness light rain across many areas of Punjab, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Central Rajasthan over the next 2–3 days. East Rajasthan may see isolated heavy showers, while Uttarakhand is also likely to experience heavy rainfall. Additionally, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) is forecast across the region during the next 4–5 days. Over the next 4–5 days, West India is set to receive light to moderate rainfall across Maharashtra and Gujarat, while heavier showers are likely over Goa and the Saurashtra & Kutch regions. Over the next three days, light to moderate rainfall is expected across Bihar and Odisha, while northern Chhattisgarh, parts of Jharkhand, and West Bengal may witness heavy showers. Northeast India is set to experience light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and isolated heavy to very heavy showers, continuing over the next seven days. South Peninsular India is likely to witness light rainfall, with heavy spells expected over Kerala and Karnataka during the next 2–3 days. Coastal Karnataka and Tamil Nadu may see increased rainfall activity starting in two days, continuing for another two days. Additionally, strong surface winds with speeds reaching 40–60 kmph are very likely over Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana during this period.
