Wheat Market Update: Trading Remains Range-Bound Amid Uncertainty Over OMSS

Wheat prices in most mandis across the country are currently fluctuating within a narrow range of ₹10 per quintal. The primary reason behind this limited movement is the absence of an official announcement regarding the governments Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS). Due to this uncertainty, market sentiment remains cautious. In Delhi (Lawrence Road), wheat opened today at ₹2275 per quintal. The market has remained stable around this level for the past week. Wheat prices in other major mandis are as follows: Jabalpur: ₹2535 Kota (Mill Quality): ₹2550 Shahjahanpur: ₹2511 Bahjoi: ₹2525 Khair: ₹2500 Mainpuri: ₹2435 Atrauli: ₹2500 Mathura: ₹2470 Hardoi: ₹2480 Mixed trends were observed in Madhya Pradesh: Dabra: Top price ₹2600 Ujjain: ₹2450 - ₹2900 Khandwa: ₹2600 Mandsaur: ₹2750 Kareli: ₹2580 Itarsi: ₹2540 Millers in South India are also exercising caution in their purchases due to a lack of clarity on OMSS. There is speculation in the market that the government may open OMSS sales at ₹2550 plus freight, which is higher than the previously estimated ₹2475 plus freight. If this price is confirmed, a fall in prices across the country is unlikely, and some regions may even see slight upward movement.
