Expected Increase in Ajwain Arrivals

Hyderabad: The arrival of new ajwain is increasing in Gujarat, but most of the incoming produce is of lower quality. However, in Gujarat's Unjha line, the supply of summer season ajwain is still ongoing. New arrivals from Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana are expected to begin in the second week of January. In Gujarat's Jamnagar, Gondal, Rajkot, and nearby markets, a weekly arrival of 8,000 to 10,000 bags of both new and old ajwain is being reported. In Jamnagar, new high-quality ajwain is trading at ₹10,900-18,400 per quintal, while old ajwain prices range from ₹8,525-13,000, with the best quality priced between ₹16,500-17,000 per quintal, depending on quality. In Unjha, with 2,000 to 2,500 bags sold, the prices are as follows: premium quality ₹12,500-13,500, medium quality ₹10,000-12,000, average quality ₹11,500-12,000, black ajwain ₹9,500-10,200, and local varieties ₹11,500-12,000 per quintal. In Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch, with a weekly arrival of 1,800 to 2,000 bags, the prices are: extra bold variety ₹17,000-18,000, best green quality ₹13,000-13,500, average quality ₹11,500-12,000, and black ajwain ₹9,500-10,200 per quintal.
