Widespread rainfall over Tamil Nadu & rain/snow over Jammu Kashmir & Himachal Pradesh
The Western Disturbance and associated cyclonic circulation persist over Iran & neighbourhood between 3.1 km and 7.6 km above mean sea level. It is likely to affect Western Himalayan region from today. Under the influence of persist weather system, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rain/snow and thunderstorm/hailstorm likely over Jammu & Kashmir on 21st & 22nd November and over Himachal Pradesh on 22nd November. In Jammu Division, continue sowing of wheat (late sown) during clear weather. Continue harvesting of Basmati rice (Late transplanted) and store in safe place. In Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, Postpone all field operations in vegetables till soil becomes workable. For apple, start procurement of seed/ nuts from current season crop and root stock seedlings from registered nurseries.
Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls likely over Tamil nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on 22nd November. In Tamil nadu, due to prevailing wet weather from past few days; flower shedding in cotton may take place,to control spray Naphthalene Acetic Acid (NAA) @ 40 ppm (40 mg / liter of water)after current spells of heavy rain. Provide propping in sugarcane and adequate support to the banana to prevent lodging due to wind.
In Haryana, Farmers are advised to complete sowing of early sown wheat varieties i.e. Unnat PBW 343, PBW 1 Zn, PBW 725, PBW 677, HD 3086, WH 1105, HD 2967, PBW 621 during the period.In Uttar Pradesh, keeping temperature in view farmers are advised to start field preparation for sowing of mustard. Before sowing seeds should be treated with thiram or Captan @ 2-2.5 g/ kg of seeds. If pod rollers are found in pods of urad/moong, dissolve b.t. 5 percent w.p. 1.5 kg or quinalphos 25 e.c. 1.5 litre per hectare in 800-1000 liters of water and sprinkle it. Thunderstorm with lightning at isolated places likely over Tamil nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Kerala & Mahe during next 24 hours.
