Heavy falls to continue over Tamil Nadu, Kerala & adjoining areas

A well marked low Pressure Area lies over Southwest Arabian Sea and adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean. Another one Low Pressure Area lies over Lakshadweep Area and adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea. Easterly wave, active over southern peninsula. Under the influence of it, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places likely over Tamil nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and heavy falls at isolated places over Kerala & Mahe and Lakshadweep during next 24 hours.

In Tamil nadu, drain out excess water from rice field. Postpone top dressing of fertilizer and pesticide. Undertake propping in late season sugarcane and tying of leaves in banana to avoid lodging. In Kerala, provide propping in banana.Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning very likely at isolated places over Rayalaseema, Coastal & South Interior Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Lakshadweep. Dense fog likely during morning hours in isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during next 24 hours.

In Assam, continue harvesting of Sali rice, continue sowing of wheat. Continue nursery sowing of boro rice, undertake planting of potato. In South Interior Karnataka, continue harvesting of maize, groundnut. Continue sowing of short duration crops such as cowpea, field bean and sunflower, undertake planting of sugarcane, after current spells of heavy rain. In North Interior Karnataka, complete harvesting of maize. Continue sowing of wheat and chickpea and new planting of sugarcane after current spells of heavy rain.In West Madhya Pradesh, continue sowing of wheat, chickpea, lentil and gram. Undertake planting of potato, nursery preparation of rabi vegetables i.e. tomato, brinjal, chilli, cabbage, cauliflower etc. In Madhya Maharashtra, Complete harvesting of matured rice, continue picking of cotton. Squally wind speed 40-50 kmph, likely to prevail along & off Kerala & Karnataka coasts. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas. There is likely reduction in rainfall over Peninsular India from 03rd December.
