Widespread rainfall over East India, cold wave to continue over northern parts

A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from the night of 06th February. Moist easterly wind likely to interact with westerly wind, under the influence scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/thundershowers expected over East India and isolated to scattered rainfall/thundershowers likely over Central India during 06th-08th February.Isolated hailstorm/thunderstorm are also predicted over Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand & Odisha. Cold wave conditions very likely in isolated parts over Punjab and Haryana. In Odisha, undertake sowing of summer maize, green gram and black gram. Complete the sowing of summer groundnut and sunflower. Undertake nursery rising of summer rice. In Chhattisgarh, give light irrigation to wheat, vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage, tomato, and pea.

Light rains are expected in a few parts of South Chhatisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha until February 7. While Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Madhya Pradesh and remaining parts of Maharashtra will witness dry weather conditions throughout the week. In East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Jharkhand, use hail net in orchards to safe guard the fruit crops from mechanical damage. Light rainfall is also expected over Andhra Pradesh and Telangana On February 8 and 9. On the other hand Karnataka and Kerala, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar will remain dry. Light rain also expected over South Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal during February 5 and 6.

East Assam and Arunachal Pradesh likely to receive light rains with isolated snowfall on February 8 and 9. In Uttar Pradesh, undertake sowing of barley. In Bihar, undertake land preparation for sowing of summer vegetables like okra, pumpkin, cucumber and sponge gourd.
