Dense fog accompanied by cold wave over Odisha and Jharkhand, rainfall over western Himalayan Region

A fresh active Western Disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from 11th February onwards. Under the influence scattered to fairly widespread rain/snow expected over Jammu & Kashmir and isolated rain/snow likely over Himachal Pradesh during 11th-13th February. In Himachal Pradesh, continue sowing of pea and cauliflower. Mulch the small plants.

Cold wave conditions are predicted over isolated parts of Jharkhand and Odisha during next 24 hours. In Jharkhand continue transplanting of summer rice. Continue nursery preparation of cucurbits, tomato, brinjal and chili. While dense fog is expected over isolated parts of Odisha during next 48 hours and cold wave conditions likely in isolated places of Jharkhand and Odisha.

In Odisha, drain out excess water from the paddy, vegetable and upland crops like Sunflower, groundnut, pulses and recently transplanted rice field. Keep harvested rice in safe place. Undertake harvesting vegetables particularly cauliflower, cabbage to avoid silting due to rain. Postpone intercultural operations, spraying and fertilization. Use polythene cover above the vegetables nursery to avoid poor germination due to low temperature and protect against damages by rainfall.
