U.S. plains wheat ratings mostly improve in February.

Condition ratings for winter wheat improved from late January to late February in most U.S. Plains states, bolstered by adequate soil moisture in many areas. United States is the world's second-largest wheat exporter after Russia. Winter wheat ratings improved slightly in top producer Kansas, with 35% of the state's crop rated good to excellent, up from 34% at the end of January. However, ratings are down from a year ago, when 51% of the Kansas crop was rated good to excellent. Wheat ratings also improved in February in Oklahoma and Colorado, the No. 3 and 4 producers last year. USDA issued its last national winter wheat ratings of the season on Nov. 25, reporting 52% of the U.S. crop in good to excellent condition as of Nov. 24.
