Maharashtra government will give bank guarantee for the purchase of tur.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that the Maharashtra government will give a bank guarantee of Rs 200 crore for purchasing tur (arhar) pulses from farmers in the current session. Pawar held a meeting of officials of the departments of agriculture and cooperatives to review the production and purchase of pigeon pea. He said that the government would give a guarantee of Rs 200 crore for the state marketing federation so that it can raise funds for the procurement. The proposal in this regard will be presented to the state cabinet. Pawar, who also holds the finance ministry, said that there are 317 tur buying centers in the state.
