Very severe cyclone Tauktae is expected to make a landfall over South Gujarat, Maharashtra; Gujarat and Rajasthan to witness heavy rain and gusty wind

Very severe cyclone Tauktae is over the North East and the adjoining East Central Arabian Sea. Western disturbance is over North Pakistan and adjoining area. Another cyclone circulation is seen over the Central parts of Assam. During the next 24 hours, very severe cyclone Tauktae is expected to make a landfall over the South Gujarat coast near Somnath for Amreli post-mid-night or early morning of May 18. At the time of landfall wind speed maybe 150-160 Kmph in gust 170 Kmph. Heavy to very heavy rain with isolated extremely heavy spells are expected over Gujarat and North Maharashtra coast. Light to moderate rain with few heavy spells may occur over Kerala, Konkan and Goa, south Rajasthan parts of Madhya Pradesh. Light to moderate rain with few intense spells are expected over Northeast India, Lakshadweep, interior Tamil Nadu, and interior Karnataka. Light to moderate rain over Western Himalayas, isolated pockets of Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
