Light to moderate rain over Bihar, Jharkhand and East UP; moderate to heavy rain to continue over Odisha, West Bengal and other parts of East India

Cyclone Yaas commenced landfall over the North Odisha coast south of Balasore and north of Dhamra of port around 9:00 am. The process of landfall completed by 12:30 noon. Conditions are favorable for the advancement of monsoon over parts of the Maldives and some parts of the Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours. The Western disturbance is over Jammu & Kashmir and adjoining areas. A cyclonic circulation is over central Pakistan and adjoining West Rajasthan in lower levels. East west shear zone is running the central Arabian Sea to Rayalaseema. During the next 24 hours, the severe cyclone Yaas will get weaken into a deep depression over the interior parts of Odisha, and further into a depression over Jharkhand. Moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers are expected to continue over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, and parts of Bihar. Light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spells may occur over North East India, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Island. Light to moderate rain with few heavy spells may occur over Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh. Light to moderate rain occurs over Sikkim, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, coastal Karnataka, South Karnataka, Lakshadweep, isolated pockets of Tamil Nadu, and Rayalaseema. Light rain may occur over South Rajasthan, parts of Vidarbha Marathwada, Konkan and Goa.
