Southwest monsoon has further advanced into the Maldives-Comorin area; countdown begins

Southwest monsoon has further advanced into the Maldives-Comorin area and most parts of the South East and West Central Bay of Bengal. Conditions are becoming favorable for the onset of monsoon over Kerala by May 30.

A well-marked low-pressure area, the remnant of very severe cyclone Yaas, has moved in North West direction and lies as a low-pressure area over East Uttar Pradesh. A fresh Western disturbance is over West Afghanistan and the adjoining area.

During the next 24 hours, moderate to heavy with isolated very heavy spells of rain may occur over Bihar and isolated pockets of North East Uttar Pradesh. Light to moderate rain with one or two intense spells may occur over central parts of central Uttar Pradesh, northeast India, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, parts of Telangana, and southwest Madhya Pradesh.

Light rain may occur over Vidarbha, Marathwada, south Madhya Maharashtra, South Konkan and Goa, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, isolated pockets of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The heatwave may continue at isolated pockets of Rajasthan.
