Government procurement of paddy decreased by a record 7.74 lakh metric tonnes in Haryana

In Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2020-21, only 56.55 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured by the government. The Food Corporation of India has given this figure on 15 July. Whereas in the last year i.e. KMS 2019-20, 64.29 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was purchased. That is, in a year there was a record reduction of 7.74 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) in paddy purchased at MSP. Whereas it is the major paddy producing state of the country. Punjab has seen a record increase in the procurement of paddy. It tops this case with government procurement of 202.82 lakh metric tonnes. During the Kharif marketing season 2019-20, 162.33 lakh tonnes of paddy was procured in Punjab. That is, the government procurement of 40.49 lakh metric tonnes increased here in a year itself. Talking about the national level, a record increase has been registered in the purchase of paddy. In KMS 2019-20, 770.93 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was procured. Whereas in 2020-21 till July 15, it has become 868.44 lakh tonnes. Punjab contributes the most to this growth.
