Maize sowing increased in some states however decreased in some other states

According to official data, this time maize production area improved from 2.36 lakh hectare in Gujarat to 2.51 lakh hectare, Karnataka jumped from 10.32 lakh hectare to 11.48 lakh hectare, Madhya Pradesh improved from 14.41 lakh hectare to 14.46 lakh hectare, as compared to last year. Improved from 1.08 lakh hectare to 1.18 lakh hectare, jumped from 38 thousand hectare in Telangana to 1.89 lakh hectare and in West Bengal from 22 thousand hectare to 30 thousand hectare. Apart from this, the area of maize in Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand remained almost the same as last year, while in other states of the country it fell from 94 thousand hectares to 92 thousand hectares. Sowing of maize has been completed in 2.02 lakh hectares in Jammu and Kashmir, 34 thousand hectares in Tamil Nadu and 25 thousand hectares in Uttarakhand. The sowing process is still in progress in many states, so some improvement is expected in the production area in coming days.
