Isolated rains and thunderstorms are on the cards over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim

During the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain and snow is possible over Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh during next 24 hours and may decrease thereafter. Rain and snowfall will commence over Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Jammu Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh from night of February 8 and intensity may increase on February 9. Light rain and snow is possible over Uttarakhand, Northern parts of Punjab. A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region. Under its influence, light isolated rainfall and snowfall may occur over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh.

Light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall or snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected over the Western Himalayan Region, reaching peak intensity and producing Isolated heavy rainfall or snowfall over the Kashmir Valley. In addition, isolated light rainfall is forecast over North Punjab. Meanwhile, dense fog is possible in isolated pockets over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and over Assam. As for the mercury levels, maximum temperatures are expected to stay above average over much of India for several days before dipping to near or below average over the northern half of the country around Sunday. Minimum temperatures are forecast to stay above to well above normal over the country during this projection period.
