A western disturbance as a trough in lower and middle tropospheric westerlies runs roughly along Long. 64°E to the north of 30°N, while an induced cyclonic circulation lies over central Pakistan and adjoining West Rajasthan in lower tropospheric levels. Under its influence, snow or rain with thunderstorms is expected across Western Himalayan Region through Saturday. Light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/snowfall with thunderstorms and lightning over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh, and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/snowfall with thunderstorms over Uttarakhand are likely on February 10. Furthermore, isolated light rainfall is also likely over north Punjab, north Haryana and Chandigarh on the same day.

Maximum temperatures will be above normal over much of India for a few days before dropping to near or below normal over the northern half of the subcontinent from Sunday. Light rain is possible over Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Meanwhile, light to moderate scattered rainfall or snowfall with thunderstorms and lightning may occur over Uttarakhand. Isolated light rainfall is likely over north Punjab. In addition, strong surface winds are expected over the plains of Northwest India.
