Isolated light rain and snow is possible over Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Jammu and Kashmir

A western disturbance will start affecting the West Himalayan region, producing scattered snow today onward. The snowfall is forecast to expand further into Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from Sunday. The peak of the snow event should be on Sunday, snow total of 20 cm or more likely in the Ladakh region. During the next 24 hours, isolated light rain and snow is possible over Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Jammu and Kashmir. Light rain is possible over Arunachal Pradesh, East Assam and Southern parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Day and night temperatures are expected to increase further over Northwest and Central parts of the country. To the Northeast, a snow event is expected from Sunday, and snow accumulations in excess of 20 cm are likely in some places of Arunachal Pradesh. Temperatures are likely to run higher than the seasonal average over many places, excluding the southeast in the next coming days. Especially, max temperatures of 40 C or more are very likely in some areas of Gujarat and coastal areas of Maharashtra until Sunday. Shallow to moderate fog is possible in some pockets of the East and the Northeast in morning/night hours through Sunday.
