Isolated rain may occur over Andaman-Nicobar Islands, Nagaland, Manipur, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal
South-westerly winds from the Bay of Bengal will likely meet the eastern Himalayas, producing rainfall in the mountainous areas of North East India. Furthermore, a western disturbance (WD) with associated Cyclonic Circulation could affect the Western Himalayan region and adjoining areas. Under the influence of this system, isolated rain/snow will pelt Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Delhi and Punjab on February 21. Dry weather is expected to prevail in other areas under high pressure system during this forecast period. Maximum temperatures are forecast to be slightly above normal in much of the country in this forecast period, with well higher than normal in Northwest India. Overnight minimums will be higher than normal in much of the country, especially in North Peninsular India. Cold temps overnight with a gentle breeze will contribute to producing dense fog (radiation fog) in isolated places of Eastern India for the next few days, and South India on February 24-25.
During the next 24 hours, light rain and snowfall with isolated moderate spells are possible over Hills of Western Himalayas and Arunachal Pradesh for another 24 hours. Isolated light rain may occur over Meghalaya, Assam, Nagaland and Sikkim. Day and night temperature will remain significantly above normal over hills of Western Himalayas. Day temperatures will be markedly above normal over most parts of Northwest and Central India.
