Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hail and gusty winds are possible at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura

A cyclonic circulation over South Assam and its neighbourhood is likely to produce isolated to scattered light rainfall activity, along with thunderstorms, lightning and winds gusting to 30-40 kmph over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Northeast India on March 14. Meanwhile, a western disturbance in the middle and upper tropospheric levels and an induced cyclonic circulation over Southwest Rajasthan and its neighbourhood in the lower tropospheric levels may bring isolated to scattered rains with thunderstorms and lightning over the Western Himalayan Region on March 14 and March 15. Additionally, due to the likely interaction of the middle tropospheric westerly trough with lower tropospheric easterly winds over Central, East and Northeast India, scattered light or moderate rains accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) are expected over North interior Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand. Similar weather conditions may prevail over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Further, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rains with thunderstorms, lightning and winds gusting to 30-40 kmph) may affect Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Northeast India from March 15-18. In addition, isolated hailstorms may pelt the region.

Isolated hailstorms are likely over Northeast Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Telangana from March 16-18, over Madhya Maharashtra on March 15-16, and over Marathwada. Hailstorms are also expected to impact Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan on March 17 and 18. As for the mercury levels, maximum temperatures are forecast to stay below normal over much of the country and well below average over Chhattisgarh and the adjoining areas from March 17. Overnight minimums are expected to be higher than usual over much of the country while staying slightly below average around the Deccan Plateau after March 17.
