Maize Bihar maize prices have increased by Rs 100 since the beginning of this month. In Gulab Bagh it was 2200 in the beginning of this month and yesterday Rs 2250/2300 was recorded. Samastipur maize price was recorded at Rs 2400 yesterday. In Sahyadri of Karnataka, it is being sold at the level of Rs.2270-2280. Maize was sold at Rs 2100 per quintal in Etah last week, but yesterday the price was Rs 2025. Since the beginning of this month, maize has decreased by Rs 10 in the mandis of Maharashtra. Wheat Wheat harvesting reached 40% in Madhya Pradesh, no decline in productivity observed. Wheat harvesting may increase soon in Punjab/Haryana. The harvesting of early crop can gain momentum from March 20. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be strong winds and rains in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar till March 15-17, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan till March 16-17. The IIWBR official said that the temperature will remain low due to the change in the weather.According to IMD, the maximum temperature can be 35 degrees and the minimum can be 15 degrees, which is suitable for wheat crop. The department has given an estimate of 1120 lakh tonnes of wheat production in the current season. Wheat production was 1068.4 lakh tonnes in 2021-22 and 1095.9 lakh tonnes in 2020-21. This year wheat production may be limited to 10 million tonnes. Wheat prices are above MSP in most of the mandis of the country.Farmers registered in small numbers for government procurement of wheat in MP, the same situation is visible in other states as well. Small flour manufacturers, millers, traders have less stock of wheat, the new stock that will come will be sold instantly. If the prices remain Rs 100 higher than the MSP, then government procurement may be affected. If government procurement remains low, then it will again be a matter of concern for the government.
