Production of mustard is estimated to increase to 115.25 lakh tonnes in the current rabi season

Mustard production in the current rabi season is estimated to increase by 7.5 per cent to 115.25 lakh tonnes as against 110 lakh tonnes last year. The average per hectare productivity in the current rabi is sitting at 1,203 kg. According to SEA, mustard sowing is estimated to be in 95.77 lakh hectare in the current rabi season. While according to the Ministry of Agriculture, mustard has been sown in 98.02 lakh hectares in the current rabi. The Union Agriculture Ministry has released an estimate of 119.63 lakh tonnes of mustard production in the current Rabi in its second preliminary estimate. According to SEA, production of mustard is estimated at 44.95 lakh tonnes in Rajasthan, 18.03 lakh tonnes in Madhya Pradesh and 16.69 lakh tonnes in Uttar Pradesh in the current Rabi season. Among other states, Haryana is estimated to have 11.47 lakh tonnes, West Bengal 7.42 lakh tonnes, Gujarat five lakh tonnes, Chhattisgarh one lakh tonnes, Bihar 1.53 lakh tonnes and Assam 1.89 lakh tonnes.
