A western disturbance persists as a cyclonic circulation over Iran and its neighbourhood. Another cyclonic circulation over Southwest Rajasthan and the neighbourhood extends up to 0.9 km above mean sea level. Additionally, a trough or wind discontinuity extends from Interior Tamil Nadu to South Chhattisgarh across Interior Karnataka, Telangana and Vidarbha. Under these systems influence, fresh rainfall and thunderstorm activity is expected to commence over Northwest India from the evening of March 23, with isolated hailstorms likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on March 23 and 24. Isolated heavy rains may impact Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab on March 24. Meanwhile, isolated light rains accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning are on the cards over Andhra Pradesh during the next five days. Rain and thunderstorms may impact Telangana, Kerala, Mahe and interior Karnataka starting March 24.
