Heavy Rains Forecast over Odisha, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala
A Cyclonic Circulation with a low-pressure area (LPA) has developed over the east-central Arabian Sea off the coastlines of the south Konkan and Goa, which is likely to turn into a Well-Marked Low Pressure Area (WMLA) in next 24hrs. A low-pressure Area has formed over the Northeast and the nearby East-central Bay of Bengal due to the effect of another cyclonic circulation over Myanmar and the adjacent east-central Bay of Bengal . Within the next 48 hours, this is also expected to develop into a Well-Marked Low-Pressure Area and proceed northwest towards north-western Odisha and the nearby West Bengal Coasts. Widespread rainfall over Odisha, as well as thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy downpours in Gangetic West Bengal are expected from September 30 to October 2. Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Bihar are also expected with similar weather conditions for next 4-5 days. Coastal Karnataka and Kerala-Mahe are likely to experience light to moderate widespread to widespread rainfall for next 3-4 days. Farmers of Karnataka are advised to prepare their fields for rabi sowing of Sorghum and safflower. Isolated heavy showers are also forecast over Tamil Nadu during next 2-3 days. Konkan-Goa and Madhya Maharashtra are likely to experience light to moderate widespread to widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and isolated heavy rainfall for next 1-2 days. Farmers of Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra are advised to arrange adequate drainage facilities for kharif crops, vegetables and orchards. Also keep harvested black gram at safer places by covering them up. Isolated heavy rainfall with thunderstorms, and lightning over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, Assam and Meghalaya are expected from 30 Sep- 3 Oct.
