Heavy Rains to Lash Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Mahe, Karaikal

Strong winds blowing in from the Bay of Bengal over the South Peninsula of India are expected to cause moderate to heavy rainfall over the next five days over Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Lakshadweep for next 5 days. South Interior Karnataka may also receive thunderstorms and lightning with light rainfall during next 1-2 days. Farmers are advised to take up sowing of improved chickpea variety JG-11. In order to get uniform germination, seeds for one acre are dissolved in 2% Calcium chloride solution for 30 minutes. Shade dry them and sow it. Coastal AP may receive light-moderate rainfall in next 3-4 days. Present weather conditions are favourable for incidence of Blast in paddy crop. It is recommended to spray Tricyclazole @ 0.6g/L To control fall army worm in Maize, arrange pheromone traps in the field @ 4-5 per acre. If heavy incidence was observed go for spraying of Emamectin benzoate @ 80 grams / acre or spinosad @ 60ml/acre. For the remaining regions of the nation, no significant weather is anticipated.
