The Cyclonic Storm “Michaung” over Southwest Bay of Bengal is expected to track north-northwestwards, approaching south Andhra Pradesh coast
The recent GFS model continues to intensify the system coming closer to Chennai and adjoining South Coastal Andhra and its further intensification will be seen while they move Northwards for a landfall which likely to occur in 5th December. Cyclone Michuang will loom over North Tamil Nadu and coastal Andhra Pradesh in the form of extremely heavy rains over many areas of Tamil Nadu (Chennai, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Sivagangai etc.) and Andhra Pradesh (Tirupathi, Palanadu, Nellore, Prakasam, Bapatla, Vizag, Anakapalli, Vizianagaram etc.) for next 2 days. Then it is likely to move in the northward direction heading to Odisha. Due to this, heavy rains are possible over Southern parts of Odisha from 5th December. Also, moderate rains are possible over Gangetic West Bengal, Chhatisgarh, Southern Bihar, Jharkhand etc In Coastal Andhra Pradesh, if the harvested cotton are in the fields, shift them immediately to safer places and if shifting is not possible then farmers are advised to use tarpaulin to cover their produce. Fasal Salah advises farmers of Prakasam district to postpone the sowing of Bengal for upcoming 4-5 days, in view of heavy rains. No western Disturbance possible over Himalayas in coming 3-4 days. Hence no weather activites likely to occur in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and Gujarat. Light to moderate isolated rains possible over many parts of South-western Uttar Pradesh and Eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh. The ongoing cyclonic storms effect can also be seen in the form of isolated moderate rains over South Karnataka, Kerala and Vidarbha. Other area of Maharashtra is likely to be dry.
