Monsoon Activity Shifts North, Impacting Northern and Central India

The monsoon trough, in the lower levels will shift north of its normal position, dragging the monsoon activity along the foothills. Most parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan will witness scanty weather activity over the next one week. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Central India. Light to moderate rain with a few heavy spells may occur over Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, southeast Rajasthan, some parts of Telangana, and South Chhattisgarh. Heavy rainfall very likely over Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka, Gujarat Region, Kerala and Karnataka next 1-2 days .
