Depression Over Odisha to Weaken, Heavy Rainfall Expected in Central and Northern India

A depression that formed over interior Odisha has moved west-northwest and, as of this morning, was centered over North Chhattisgarh and adjoining interior Odisha. The system is expected to continue moving west-northwest, weakening into a well-marked low-pressure area over Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh by this evening. Extreme Heavy Rainfall: Expected in Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, and North Maharashtra today. South Uttar Pradesh will likely experience heavy rainfall today, while West Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Haryana, and Uttarakhand are forecasted to receive heavy showers in the next 2-3 days. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana may experience isolated rain along with thunderstorms. Kerala, South Interior Karnataka, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh are likely to receive moderate rainfall, while Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and interior Karnataka will experience lighter showers. Light to moderate rain is possible over Northeast India, West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand.
