Extremely Heavy Rains to Batter Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand

A well-marked low-pressure area over northeast Madhya Pradesh is likely to intensify into a depression within 12 hours. It will move northwest toward Uttar Pradesh and may re-intensify today. The system is expected to weaken over Uttarakhand in the next 2 days. Under these conditions, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Madhya Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, and parts of East Rajasthan today. These regions are at risk of flooding, landslides, rising river levels, and lowland inundation. Additionally, another low-pressure system is forecast to develop over the North Bay of Bengal or Bangladesh in the next 3-4 days. This system is likely to move westward toward West Bengal, bringing heavy to very heavy rainfall with thunderstorms to East India over the weekend. Scattered light to moderate rain will occur in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand over the next 1-2 days, with heavy rain possible in some areas. Punjab and Haryana will experience mostly clear and partly cloudy weather tomorrow, with a strong possibility of scattered light to moderate rain. Light to moderate rain is likely over Chhattisgarh and Odisha. Isolated rain with lightning is possible over Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal may experience light rainfall. Southern Karnataka may see moderate rainfall, while Tamil Nadu and Kerala will have clear weather with a few possibilities of light rain. A cyclonic circulation is present over south Gujarat, leading to moderate rainfall over Gujarat, Goa, Maharashtra, and coastal Karnataka.
