Despite high production of maize in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the recent competitive purchasing by stockists and ethanol companies has caused maize prices to rise significantly. Seasonal spikes often lead to losses; however, 32-33% of consumption has started to occur in ethanol companies. Traders in the private sector have begun purchasing again after the recent decline, resulting in market prices for Bihar’s maize reaching to Haryana and Punjab ₹ 2750-2800 per quintal and Uttar Pradesh’s maize at ₹2650-2660 per quintal. Now is the time to sell the goods and make a profit.
