Heavy Rains to Lash Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
A well-marked low-pressure area currently located to the northwest of the Andaman Islands is expected to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm by tomorrow over the east-central Bay of Bengal. As it continues on its path, the system is likely to strengthen further into a severe cyclonic storm over the northwest Bay of Bengal by the morning of October 24th. The storm is forecasted to make landfall between the Puri (Odisha) and Sagar Island (West Bengal) coasts during the night of October 24th and the morning of October 25th. The Low Pressure Area over westcentral Arabian Sea persisted over the same region. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards away from Indian coast and weaken further during next 12 hours. An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over Tamil Nadu in lower and middle tropospheric levels. Light to moderate rain with a few heavy spells is possible over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Some parts of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Goa. Light to moderate rain may occur over South Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, South Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Kerala. Light rain is possible over, south Rajasthan, Sikkim, and Northeast India.
